RF Enclosure

An enclosure sized with RF and microwave circuits in mind

Three RF enclosures:

  • The MINI, for RF modules that typically implement only one RF function. It accommodates a PCB size of 26.6 x 26.6 mm (approximately 1 inch).
  • The EXT, which offers twice as much PCB surface area.
  • The SQR, which houses four times more PCB surface area than the MINI.

  • Choose how many you want to use
  • Unused ports are replaced by  cover plates


  • Turret terminal (DC ground)
  • Feedthrough capacitor (DC supply/control signal)
  • Unused elements are replaced by dummy screws

Reuse the enclosure

For new PCB revisions or new designs

  • The SMA connectors and PCB are easily replaced.
  • The PCB is accessible by removing the top cover.
  • The bottom cover can also be removed.

PCB thickness

  • MINI-FX: supports all practical PCB thicknesses between 0 and 1.6 mm
  • MINI: supports PCB thicknesses between 0.8 and 1.2 mm (depending on the SMA connector type)

Designed for RF circuits

Much attention was paid to the design of the enclosure to make it an excellent choice for your next RF project. Don’t let your critical design prototype be ruined by undefined RF behavior because you didn’t use a proper RF enclosure.

  • A very low inductance path from the PCB to the enclosure and SMA connectors
  • SMA port construction with a very low VSWR
  • The RF enclosure works as an excellent EM shield

  • Accurate mechanical drawings (data sheet)
  • Suggested PCB layout, including the mounting holes (datasheet)
  • SMA port return loss analyses using a PCB reference design (application note)
  • Level of isolation between the SMA ports (application note)

Every RF enclosure can be used as is, by itself. And because all models feature the same SMA connector position in the z-direction (all at the same height), they can be connected using "through" connectors.
